The very first PS5 Slim teardown video has been released, comparing dimensions, showing internal components, temperatures, power consumption and more.
A few days ago, we published several photos of the new PlayStation 5 model from Sony, which showed the console’s ports and rather cheap-looking matte-glossy hybrid side panels. Thanks to the famous YouTube blogger Dave2D, a real disassembly video of the new Sony PS5 model has appeared. The video compares the current PS5 model with the new PS5 Slim model, showing a clear difference in external dimensions, as well as a comparison of internal components. Interestingly, the video also compares the temperatures of both models after an eight-hour load cycle. The result is 62 to 64 degrees for the new PS5 Slim model and 60 to 63 degrees for the “old” current model.
Power consumption was also measured, which showed slightly higher power consumption of the new Slim model in Spider-Man 2, Astro’s Playroom and Death Stranding. Additionally, the disassembly shows how to remove the drive slot without tools.
