Introducing the ‘Paragraphica’: A Camera That Takes Pictures Without a Lens, Using AI Technology

IT media Kijin reported on the 15th (local time) that a strange camera that takes pictures without a camera lens has appeared.

In conventional cameras, light that hits a subject and is reflected is collected on a lens and a picture is taken through a film or digital sensor. Invented by Danish designer Bjorn Karman, this artificial intelligence (AI) camera takes pictures without a camera lens through location information and generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

The name of the camera is ‘Paragraphica’, and the design also has a strange structure in the shape of a flower instead of a camera lens.

There are three dials, a shutter button, and a dial on the front, and the AI image generator ‘Stable Diffusion’ prompt is displayed on the rear LCD screen.

Paragraphica is equipped with a Raspberry Pi 4 computer, collects GPS and internet information through open API, and uses digital data and surrounding environment information in real time to create images. Address, current time, surrounding area information, weather, and temperature are utilized, and a generative AI image application analyzes this information to create a new photo.

Users can enter commands into Stable Diffusion and check the generated results on the screen.

The streetscape is somewhat similar, but if you look closely, the cars lined up are completely different and the design of the building is also different. In addition, the photos taken of a place full of grass are slightly different in the grass that composes the grass, but the meadow landscape is similarly reproduced, Gijin said.
