The NVIDIA RTX 4060 graphics card has appeared on sale in Ukraine. Its price starts from ₴14099, which can make the card an interesting offer compared to the RTX 3060 or RTX 3060 Ti, despite the technical limitations that are being vigorously discussed on the network.
The disadvantages of the RTX 4060 include a 128-bit memory bus (192-bit for the RTX 3060 and 256-bit for the RTX 3060 Ti) and a relatively small, by modern standards, its volume – the same 8 GB. Pros: Much lower power consumption (115W vs. 170W and 200W for predecessors) and DLSS 3 support that many will want to take advantage of.
Hardware support for the AV1 codec by Ada Lovelace video cards in the case of the NVIDIA RTX 4060 is only useful for watching video: the 128-bit bus makes professional video processing extremely slow.
Faster new generation chip does the trick: according to gaming and synthetic tests the graphics card is 18%-23% faster than the RTX 3060, even the 12 GB variants, although sagging due to a narrow tire cannot be ruled out. Starting at ₴14,099, compared to the RTX 3060’s minimum price of ₴12,000 with ~20% more performance, it doesn’t look overpriced.
Compared to the RTX 3060 Ti, the NVIDIA RTX 4060 is on par or behind in benchmarks, the difference cannot be called decisive. The price of graphics cards is almost the same, but 3060 Ti can still be found in stores for ₴13,000 or less. Here the decisive choice is the technical characteristics: a difference of 85 W, a twice wider bus for the RTX 3060 Ti, the presence of DLSS 3.
So far, only two models from MSI are available in stores – RTX 4060 VENTUS 2X BLACK 8G OC and RTX 4060 GAMING X 8G. But PNY and Gigabyte video cards are expected in the near future. In Europe, the NVIDIA RTX 4060 has been on sale for several days and managed to get cheaper at 6%.
