Chinese mobile phone brand Nubia added a new member to its Z50 series yesterday. The Z50S was also launched in the Chinese market on the day of release. Nubia Z50S is positioned as a cheap flagship. It is equipped with a 6.67-inch curved screen with a resolution of 2,400 x 1,080. In addition to supporting a 144Hz refresh rate, its peak brightness is as high as 1,000nits, ensuring that it can be seen clearly in outdoor environments.
Flagship specifications
Nubia chose the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor for the Z50S, paired with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM. Although Qualcomm will release Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 at the end of the month, the performance of Gen 2 is still quite strong. The manufacturer provides two storage capacity options of 256GB or 512GB, both of which are also UFS 4.0. Nubia Z50S supports 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 and NFC connections. The built-in 5,000mAh battery supports 80W wired fast charging. The official figure is that it takes about 30 minutes to fully charge from 0 to 100%. The body rarely provides a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a linear motor provides vibration feedback.
Extremely affordable pricing
In terms of photography, Nubia Z50S is equipped with a 16MP front selfie lens, and a 35mm optical shock-proof main lens with a 64MP Sony IMX787 sensor on the back, paired with a 50MP ultra-wide-angle/macro two-in-one lens and a multi-channel spectral sensor. Nubia Z50S is priced from 2,199 and 2,399 yuan (approximately HK$2,352 and $2,566) for 256GB and 512GB respectively. The price is quite affordable and has been listed on JD.com. It has not yet been determined whether the overseas version will be launched.
