We didn’t even expect it, but after 14 years, a new generation of Toyota Land Cruiser is coming to Europe. Surprisingly, it does without batteries, because it is powered by a diesel engine under the hood, and we were already able to get acquainted with it statically at the presentation in Warsaw.
The middle of the trio of Land Cruisers, designated as the number 150, went on sale in Europe in 2009. Since then, it has undergone several facelifts, but the rest of the world has meanwhile also seen the new generation of the larger Land Cruiser 300. It was on its basis that the new Land Cruiser 250 was introduced It returns to its roots in appearance, which is also proven by its robust retro design. It still relies on frame construction and is definitely not afraid of serious terrain. After all, its competition includes a newcomer to the Czech market, the recently launched Ford Bronco.
In contrast, Toyota will only offer diesel engines. In the beginning, only a single four-cylinder, which will later be supplemented by a more modern unit with a mild-hybrid. Despite the retro appearance and retro drive, the new Land Cruiser also had to move with the times, so in addition to the necessary displays, modern assistance systems also took up residence on board. Alternative drives are also expected in the future, but Toyota has not yet decided which ones.
The Toyota Land Cruiser 250 will be introduced to the European market with a special First Edition, which will appear here in approximately 3,000 copies. Two variants of a specific two-tone body paint in Sand brown and Smoky blue, as well as classic round headlights, will be characteristic. The official price list of the Czech representative office of Toyota has not yet been published and we will have to wait for it until the start of sales. It is planned for the beginning of next year. So far, we have been able to touch two prototypes at a presentation in Poland, from where we also bring a video.
