METRO SULTENG-The last few days we’ve seen some strange images teased by Swatch and Omega. The first thing that comes to mind is, “why is Swatch Group collaborating with itself?”. There is, however, the new MoonSwatch, a series of eleven colored watches styled to look a lot like Speedmasters from a distance.
Even if you look closely, the two also have similarities. Do you remember the old Speedmaster Reduced range? It was the Speedmaster series that made the movement more affordable. It looks like the MoonSwatch range is the heir to the Reduced crown.

As mentioned above, there are eleven versions of MoonSwatch. Everything comes in a container made from BioCeramic Swatch, which is two-thirds made of ceramic and one-third made of plastic derived from castor beans.
No credit should be given to the environmental movement, given the energy required to make ceramics, but it is a topic of conversation.

It would help if this BioCeramic was explained a little better. The Swatch website is relatively sparse on details other than providing a “silky soft touch.”
All MoonSwatches come in a 42mm x 13.25mm case , and put a “should be 40mm” in the comments! They are also water resistant to 30mm.
Each MoonSwatch variant has a specific theme, one for the sun, one for the moon, eight for the eight planets in our solar system, and one for Pluto, which I happen to think is a planet.

The most interesting thing about Omega using the Swatch name is that it is much easier to make eleven different watches than it would be if Omega made eleven different Speedmasters.
For those hoping for an Omega move in it, well, that’s not going to happen. All eleven models are quartz powered, they may have Omega written all over them, but either way, they are still Swatch watches.
You get a nice chronograph feature. While the dial layout looks a bit odd, I think this is a way to properly differentiate it from the Omega Speedmaster. Priced at $260 (Rp. 4 million) available at select Swatch stores.***
