Mortgage broker and manager of Équipe Alliance, Ms. Geldhof officially opens this week a new branch of Multi-Prêts Hypothèques in downtown Magog (Parc des Braves).

His mandate and that of his team: to help clients who wish to purchase a property or renew their mortgage loan find the solution best suited to their needs… while saving them significant amounts of money.

“We sometimes see people bargaining for a $50 item at the store, when they don’t even take the time to ‘shop around’ their mortgage. And yet, we are talking about thousands of dollars here. Ensuring you have the right mortgage can save a significant amount of money,” insists Danielle Geldhof.

According to the latter, the role of mortgage broker is still unknown among the population. “He is the one who does the research and compares several options offered by different lenders such as banks, credit unions (Desjardins), virtual lenders, mortgage financing companies or alternative or private lenders,” explains- she said.

“It is essential to know the product, because there is a lot of information circulating on social networks which is not always truthful, which is incomplete or even taken out of context. And be wary when you’re offered a rate that seems too low to be true; there may be something fishy going on,” she warns.

“And what is also very important to know is that our services are free when it comes to a residential mortgage,” adds Ms. Geldhof.

In love with Quebec

Originally from Belgium, Danielle Geldhof arrived in Quebec around fifteen years ago, through the coincidences of life.

She immediately fell in love with her adopted homeland, even though she barely spoke French and arrived in completely unfamiliar territory. “I had to adapt to your pretty accent,” she says, laughing.

“I also chose to learn a profession (mortgage broker) which did not exist in Belgium, as I was a restaurateur in my country of origin. But I quickly fell in love with this environment, so much so that I was entrusted with the management of three offices on the South Shore of Montreal (Châteauguay, Saint-Basile-le-Grand and Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville) over the years. The Magog branch will be the fourth of the Alliance Team,” she explains.

Already supported by a few brokers at her Magog office, Ms. Geldhof would like to increase her staff in the short term, since, according to her, the need for mortgage advice will increase.
