Without much fanfare, Huawei introduced its new flagship smartphone, the Huawei Mate 60 Pro. The novelty is intended only for the Chinese market so far and it is not certain at the moment if and when it will appear on the global market. It is again a high-end device with a sophisticated camera and an interesting design.
The distinguishing feature of the front is the triple hole in the display, which serves for the 13 Mpx selfie camera and the 3D depth sensor for facial unlocking. The back side is characterized by a double material divided by an elegant arch in the lower part of the back. It is always a combination of metal and, depending on the color, glass or leather. A total of four colors will be available for the Chinese market: green, purple, white and black.
The Mate 60 Pro uses a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with an adaptive refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hz. Surprisingly, the manufacturer does not specify the type of processor, but there are rumors that the phone runs on the company’s own Kirin 9000S chipset, which could also provide the phone with 5G connectivity. In terms of performance, it is supposed to be a chipset at the level of the roughly two-year-old top Snapdragons.
Satellite communication and fast reverse charging
Due to known restrictions, this also means that the global launch of the Mate 60 Pro model in this specification is practically excluded. Either Huawei would have to be embargoed from using 5G, or it would have to be replaced by a Snapdragon locked to 4G. There is 12 + 256 GB of memory, but the storage can also be 1 TB. In addition, the phone supports its own memory cards of the NM Card type.
The rear camera is a triple XMAGE type with a 50Mpx primary sensor and a variable aperture lens (f1.4 to f4.0). Another is a 12 Mpx wide-angle camera (f2.2) and a 48 Mpx sensor with a telephoto lens (f3.0) and optical stabilization, which, thanks to autofocus, can also be used for taking macro pictures.
The phone boasts satellite connectivity, but this service is exclusive to the Chinese market for all Huawei phones so far. The built-in 5000mAh battery supports 88W fast wired charging, 50W fast wireless charging and even 20W fast wireless reverse charging. In the Chinese market, the phone will run on Harmony OS 4.0.
