HondaJet Echelon
Honda Motor Co., Ltd. announced on October 17th that its aircraft business subsidiary, Honda Aircraft Company (hereinafter referred to as HACI), will be participating in the world’s largest aircraft carrier, which will be held from October 17th to 19th in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. It was announced that the name of the new small business jet aircraft, “HondaJet Echelon,” was announced at the business aircraft show “2023 Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition” (2023 NBAA-BACE).
At the venue, a mock-up model of the HondaJet Echelon and the currently on sale “HondaJet Elite II” were exhibited, and HACI’s product lineup of two models was introduced for the first time. HACI plans to proceed with development of the HondaJet Echelon, aiming for its first flight in 2026, with the aim of obtaining type certification in 2028.
The HondaJet Echelon’s specifications include Williams’ FJ44-4C engine and Garmin G3000 avionics. The range (NBAA IFR Range, 1 crew + 4 passengers) is 2,625 nautical miles, the maximum cruising speed is 450 knots, and the maximum cruising altitude is 47,000 feet (all target performance).
The HondaJet Echelon improves mobility efficiency in every aspect and provides a flight experience equivalent to that of a category higher than light jets. By further evolving Honda’s unique technology of engine placement above the main wing, natural laminar flow airfoil/nose, and composite fuselage, it can accommodate up to 11 people in total, including crew and passengers. The cabin features a spacious cabin suitable for long-distance flights and excellent quietness, providing a premium ownership experience with comfortable and highly efficient movement.
It is also 20% lower than competing light jets (twin-engine aircraft with a maximum takeoff weight of 12,500 lbs or more and 20,000 lbs or less), and 20% lower than competing light jets (twin-engine aircraft with a maximum takeoff weight of 20,000 lbs or more and 30,000 lbs or less). By improving fuel efficiency by more than 40% (compared to the flight distance between New York and Los Angeles) compared to a twin-engine aircraft weighing less than 5,000 pounds, it became the first light jet in the world to fly non-stop in the Americas. made crossing possible.
The HondaJet Echelon is equipped with Williams’ “FJ44-4C” engine and Garmin G3000 avionics.Specifications include a range of 2,625 nautical miles, a maximum cruising speed of 450 knots, and a maximum cruising altitude of 47,000 feet (all target performance).
The name “Echelon” means “echelon formation flight,” and it is said to be a flight pattern that achieves highly efficient aerodynamic performance in aircraft, and is effective in reducing fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. It represents the features of HondaJet. At the same time, it also has the meaning of “rung” in a ladder in French, and since the word is now used to refer to the premium category, the name was given to convey the meaning of being the highest-end model of the HondaJet brand.

By leveraging our unique advanced technology know-how, we will free people from constraints such as time and travel distance, and provide them with the joy of realizing a sustainable society and expanding the possibilities of their lives. We are taking a step forward towards realizing ‘mobility’ and moving on to the next stage.”
