Some LEGO sets are absolutely huge. In the past, Lego Super Star Destroyer was the behemoth all kids wanted (yes, I speak from experience), now today there are a whole bunch of giant sets including Titanic, Millennium Falcon, Eiffel Tower, Hogwarts Castle, AT-AT, Green Giant set and a collection of cars. Lego will expand its line-up of complex and large sets next month with a working crane measuring one meter in height.
Known as the Liebherr Crawler Crane LR 13000, the set has 2,883 pieces and measures 100cm high, 110cm long and 28cm wide. It goes without saying that if you plan to build and display this large mockup, you need to have some serious white space.
As far as what the crane unit can do, it has tank steering, rotating turntable, luffing jib, winches, load sensing and 24 unique weight elements as counterweights. It also has a power motor and a smart hub that lets you use 12 (! AA batteries.
Given the size and scale of the crane set, you can rightly assume that it will be quite expensive due to the crane’sretail priceFrom £579.99/€679.99, the crane will debut on 1 August 2023.
