The Government delegate in La Rioja, Beatriz Arraiz Nalda, met this Friday with the mayor of Tirgo, Juan María Ruiz, to present him with the final project for the humanization works on the N-232A highway as it passes through this town in La Rioja. .
Within the framework of the Recovery, Transition and Resilience Plan (PRTR), the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma) has tendered these works, which aim to integrate the crossing into the urban fabric of the municipality and affect the route between kilometer points 455,000 and 485,000. Their budget amounts to 1,254,015.57 euros (VAT included).
The humanization of the crossing implies its subsequent transfer to the Tirgo City Council, which will become the new person responsible for its conservation and maintenance as the owner of the route.
The most important actions are concentrated in the urban area, between kilometer points 456,350 and 456,860, where two zones can be distinguished:
Zone 1: Section of mixed, urban traffic coming from the LR-201, between kilometer points 456,350 and 456,620 (LR-201). On this route, it is proposed to reduce the width of the lanes to 3.25 meters and thus increase the available surface on the sidewalks to favor the mobility of pedestrians and contribute to calming the traffic. Medium-sized trees and benches will be placed on the sidewalks.
Zone 2: Section of almost exclusively urban traffic, between kilometer points 456,620 and 456,860. On this route, the width of the lane will increase to 3.10 m, while the pavement for the circulation of vehicles and the sidewalks will be located at the same level, which will give a more urban appearance and prioritize the mobility of pedestrians over vehicles.
The paving for the circulation of vehicles will consist of polished concrete, diamond-cut and bush-hammered on the surface to leave the aggregate visible. Likewise, trees, benches and litter bins will be placed to integrate the road with the rest of the streets. In this area, after carrying out the work, the circulation of heavy vehicles will be prohibited.
On the other hand, in the interurban sections, outside the two previous zones, various pavement rehabilitation works will be carried out.
After the construction of the Tirgo Bypass, the N-232 road lost its functionality and was renamed N-232A. The action is included in the PRTR, which will allocate up to 105 million euros from NextGenerationEU funds to humanize urban sections of the State Highway Network.
