Introducing Sony Inzone Buds: Wireless Headphones for Gamers

Sony doesn’t just have its PlayStation 5 console to attract gamers. The Japanese manufacturer is also counting on its talents in audio with Inzone Buds wireless headphones.

This October 10, at around 6 p.m., we cannot say that everything was in the best synchronization at Sony. However, the Japanese manufacturer had everything planned to unveil a brand new audio product: the Inzone Buds, its first wireless headphones dedicated to video games.

And it was another gaming event that somewhat overshadowed the announcement, coming from the same house. Because it was also the moment chosen by Sony to unveil its new reduced-size Playstation 5. Enough to push into the shadows the presentation of a new product supposed to accompany the star console.

Sony wireless headphones for PS5 (but not only)

Because the Inzone Buds are the new entry in the range of audio accessories for video games launched by Sony in 2022. If gaming headsets with microphones are legion on the market, wireless headphones are becoming rarer. It must be said that both the PS5 and the Xbox Series X⎜S have specific connection protocols which require brands to create tailor-made models.

PlayStation has its specific Pulse ED headset, but no wireless headphones yet. The Inzone Buds therefore arrive with a playing card, especially since they work with a PC as with a PS5, but using a dongle provided in the case to connect via Bluetooth Low Energy Audio. And they have serious assets to win.

Because high-end audio, Sony knows it. The Asian manufacturer has just released its WF-100XM5, a benchmark in the premium wireless earphone market. And he injects some of their strong points into his Inzone Buds.

Starting with well-thought-out ergonomics. They come with four sets of tips for all ear canal sizes. No pressure is noted on the duct or the roof. The touch controls are customizable from the Sony Headphone Connect app. This format offers a first effective passive noise reduction, to which they add real active noise reduction, one of Sony’s specialties.

The quality of the WF-1000XM5 for video games

To optimize the gaming experience, and particularly in shooting games, the Inzone Buds rely heavily on the spatialization of sound which will allow you to hear an enemy coming behind you, to hear a loud noise from any location at your back. screen and judge the distance of your opponent. Enough to reinforce the immersion in your game, but also to limit annoying background noise in game and on calls.

Immersion also involves sound spatialization. The 360 Spatial Sound option is personalized for each player by focusing on the shape of the ear as well as the ear canal and its characteristics. This is done through the Inzone Hub PC application which carries out the analysis using a photo of the ears.

In terms of audio quality, the Inzone Buds benefit from the Dynamic Driver X used in the WF-1000XM5 to reproduce a wide frequency range and offer very clear, detailed and realistic sound, with minimal distortion. Thanks to the dongle included and connected via USB-C, the latency has been reduced (less than 30 ms) so that the player remains in his game without sound interruption.

But it is the autonomy that will undoubtedly appeal to all those who do not think that we can play in good conditions with in-ear headphones rather than headphones. Sony announces 12 hours per earphone (without noise reduction activated) and 24 hours with charging integrated into the carrying case. In addition, it is possible to recover an hour of play in five minutes of charging.

Price and availability of Sony Inzone

The Inzone Buds wireless headphones are available in black or white at a price of 200 euros. They will go on sale during the month of October 2023.
