Introducing ‘Ruta Exploremos’: A Board Game for Exploring the Depths of Colombia

Knowing the depths of Colombia is the dream of Colombians, but it is difficult; So from Exploremos, “Ruta Exploremos” was created, a board game to bring together explorers and their families around natural habitats and biogeographic regions such as the Pacific Coast or the biogeographic Chocó, the Caribbean Coast, the Llanos (Orinoquia), the Amazon or the Andean zone.

“Ruta Exploremos” was created by the interdisciplinary team of the educational channel Exploremos, where players assume the role of explorers starting from San Andrés to La Guajira and from there to the interior the knowledge and cultural traditions of Colombia are explored to strengthen essential learning. of mathematical logic, literature and writing, natural sciences, art and culture, among many knowledges.

In October the educational channel Exploremos presented the game to the educational community. The first to throw the dice, cross obstacles, answer riddles and laugh with the didactic activities was Boyacá with the Santa Bárbara educational institutions of the municipality of Cómbita, Industrial Technician Julio Florez of Chiquinquirá and Country Bilingual School of Cómbita.

In this launch, the experience was shared with children, young people and adults. Teacher Maurel Sánchez, from the Santa Cecilia branch of the Julio Florez Industrial Technical School, indicated that “the game is very successful because it allows minors to have fun but also remember and appropriate learning in a meaningful way. It is an excellent pedagogical tool because it helps the teacher in the teaching process; Let’s remember that by playing you learn more.”

The students who had the experience of playing stated that they had a lot of fun with the challenges of the “Río challenges you” card because they were invited to dance, imitate, dramatize or draw; In addition, with the questions you interacted with the other players, shared and laughed.
