Parallels Desktop 19 has been released, bringing some exciting enhancements, including macOS Sonoma integration, a new design, and a new password-less login feature using Touch ID.
new icon
The biggest change in Parallels Desktop 19 is that the “icon” is officially replaced with a new design. The official said that its inspiration mainly comes from the full details of Apple’s design. Considering that Parallels users mainly use MacBook, there is a MacBook pattern in the center of the icon.
Passwordless login with Touch ID
Touch ID on Mac eliminates the need for password entry, and with Parallels 19, you can easily use Touch ID in virtual machines, simplifying daily login and authentication usage. With Touch ID support, Windows passwords are stored in the macOS keychain.
Support macOS Sonoma 14
In macOS Sonoma 14, AppKit for window management has undergone a major change: all UI window changes are now synchronized with the display (v-sync). However, this significantly slows down animations in Windows applications in Fused View mode (for example, resizing windows, repositioning windows, or using Stage Manager).
Considering that users love Fusion View mode and run Windows applications and Mac applications at the same time, Parallels engineers redesigned the way to use Windows applications in Fusion Mode to ensure a smooth and pleasant user experience after upgrading to macOS Sonoma 14.
Parallels Desktop 19 offers enhanced printing options via Internet Printing Protocol (IPP). This optimization improves shared printing functionality when running macOS on Apple Silicon Macs.
Can run more Windows professional software
This year, the improved version of OpenGL can support up to version 4.1, and more Windows-specific CAD software can be run on Mac, including VariCAD, Deswik.CAD, Vectorworks Vision 2023 and so on.
Plus, Parallels Desktop 19 can run the popular geographic information system software AcrGIS Pro on the Mac with major performance improvements.
