Toyota is quite active in showcasing products for electric cars, including those circulating in Indonesia. More recently, this Japanese manufacturer has released 2 of its latest electric cars, namely the Battery EV car bZ4X and the Innova Zenix Hybrid.
Toyota bZ4X pure electric car
The Toyota bZ4X is Toyota’s first battery electric car in Indonesia. This car is a whole import (CBU) from Japan.
Toyota’s first true electric car in Indonesia immediately took part in the big G20 summit event in Bali last November. The Toyota bZ4X is used for the mobility of officials and delegates at the G20 summit.
This car adhering to high technology and emotional design has aggressive angles. In the aft area there is a roof spoiler designed to accommodate aerodynamics. It looks sportier due to the use of shark fin antenna patterns.
Speaking of energy sources, the Toyota bZ4X is equipped with a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 71.4 kWh with a voltage of 355 Volts. When the battery is fully charged, the front wheel drive (FWD) car can travel up to 500km.
The bZ4X battery is said to be charged from 0 to 80% in 9 to 10 hours with the normal charging method, using an AC charger with an output of 6.6 kW. However, when charged with fast charging, to charge from 0 to 80% capacity, it takes only 30 minutes using DC charging with a power of 150kW.
This car gets power up to 204 HP and maximum torque of 266.3 Nm from an AC synchronous electric generator electric motor. With so much power, this car can accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 8.3 seconds.
The new bZ4X is built on the e-TNGA platform, which is a refinement of Toyota’s New Global Architecture (TNGA). However, optimized and dedicated to battery electric vehicles.
One of its strengths is the battery unit which is swept under the vehicle floor as an integral part of the chassis, contributing to a low center of gravity, ideal front-rear weight balance and high body rigidity.
Because it is integrated into the frame, the bZ4X battery is claimed to be safe from impacts from various sides. Toyota has also implemented a water cooling system that integrates with the car’s climate control system to stabilize battery temperature after extended use to maintain battery performance and safety.
The Toyota bZ4X has a feature that is said to be the first to exist in an electric car in Indonesia, namely Advanced Park. This function is designed to assist the driver during parallel parking or reverse parking automatically, so that the driver does not have to move the steering wheel even slightly. Several safety features are installed on this car, including Safe Exit Assist, Parking Support Brake, A-Pillar Integration (increases safety), Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Rear Camera Detection.
Toyota has also equipped the bZ4X with the latest generation ADAS (Advance Driver Assistance System) function called TSS (Toyota Safety Sense) 3.0. Features include Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Auto High Beam, Lane Tracing Assist, Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, up to Road Sign Assist.
