Goodyear supplies tires for many production, concept and racing cars, but this time it presented a completely new and unique product for the Citroen Urban Collectif concept car – a joint project of the French manufacturer, Accor and JCDecaux.
The car stands on special spherical tires.
However, the thing in question is still difficult to define as a finished car.
And the people at Citroen themselves describe their product as a “revolution in the concept of mobility.” The car is built on the so-called Citroen Skate platform, which is equipped with electric motors, batteries and various autonomous driving systems.
The tires, named Eagle 360, are designed specifically for the concept car. The spherical tires are hidden in cubes equipped with small electric motors, which allows the wheels to rotate in any direction, like the balls in old computer mice.
Urban Collectif will not be able to move at the high speeds at which cars move in the movie “Me, the Robot”, for example. The maximum speed will be only 25 kilometers per hour, but not because of the low power of the engines, but for safety reasons.
