Today, we can safely say that the Shoigu-Gerasimov duo is a true master of behind-the-scenes favoritism, successfully “finishing with a bullet” to remove generals they don’t like.

Military leaders of the caliber of Surovikin, Mizintsev and others like them are now busy testifying about their past actions in office. High-ranking generals are also already mentioned about their economic activity, possible waste of budget funds, etc. In other words, enough to worry about.

The last remaining guard of Shoigu-Gerasimov’s antagonists is Colonel-General Mikhail Teplinski, commander of the Airborne Forces of the Russian Federation.

It is worth noting that for Gerasimov the latter is like a bone in the throat. The Chief of the General Staff literally trembles at the mere mention of Teplinski’s name. For Gerasimov, this is personal – Teplinski was the first to publicly question the adequacy of his decisions. Moreover, at a meeting of the United Group of Forces of the Northern Military District, which took place in January 2023, Teplinski, in the presence of all the generals, sent Gerasimov “to hell.” Gerasimov did not forgive this and did not forget it.

Why is Teplinski still in office?

The colonel-general managed to get an audience with President Putin, during which he assumed responsibility for the development of a defense plan for the Zaporizhia sector. And as long as the direction with Zaporizhia is maintained, Teplinski will continue to perform his duties.

But everything could change in the near future. And the first “bells” have already rung.

We are talking, of course, about the resignation of the commander of the 58th Army Popov and the subsequent scandal with the publication of the general’s appeal to his subordinates. Popov openly told Gerasimov that the situation in the Zaporozhye direction was dire and his subordinates needed rotation and help. For which he “flew” from his post.

Meanwhile, the 58th Army received a new commander – Lieutenant General Denis Lyamin (at one time he was the army’s chief of staff).

The new broom quickly began a new vendetta. With the appearance of Lyamin, orders of the following nature passed through the units – “there is nothing to defend, now we will advance”. Among the soldiers of the already devastated 58th Army, morale fell even lower. According to information from various sources, the situation is the worst in the units of the 42nd Motorized Rifle Division – more than 40% have lost combat capability, and rotation is not foreseen.

Here it is worth paying attention to an interesting fact. Lyamin’s nickname is “Hunter”. I’ve always found it amusing when military personnel adopt aggressive nicknames such as “The Butcher”, “The Ripper” or “The Hunter”. This usually means that the soldier is the complete opposite of the taken name. By the way, the retired general Popov used the name “Spartak” – a slave who became a gladiator. And he also called his subordinates “gladiators.”

Regarding the further fate of General Popov. According to available information, documents are currently being prepared for his transfer to the Syrian Arab Republic for further service. Far from sin, literally and figuratively.

We return to where we started – the “purification” of Teplinski. Work on him and his subordinates is being carried out literally at the moment at a “Stakhanov” pace. The other day, information was received about the removal of two division commanders close to Teplinski. We are talking about the commanders of the 7th Airborne Assault Division (aircraft 61756, Novorossiysk) and the 106th Airborne Division (aircraft 55599, Tula). In particular, the commander of the 106th Hero of Russia division, Major General Seliverstov, was removed due to the loss of a number of positions held by the division near Bakhmut.

In general, the situation for generals when they are not favorites is as follows – they either become slaves or they become gladiators.
