The Intrepid Museum in Manhattan is popular with many children and teenagers.
It is an institution dedicated to American naval and military history in our city, and is located at Pier 86 at 46th Street on the Hudson River.
In the Hell’s Kitchen area of West Manhattan, the Intrepid Museum features exhibits, planes and spaceships aboard the USS Intrepid, a World War II aircraft carrier.
There is also a missile submarine called the USS Growler, among other attractions.
As we enter the spring and summer months, the Intrepid Museum’s Free Fridays are back.
The free admission hours will be extended from 5pm to 9pm, on selected Fridays, until September. Visitors will be able to enjoy special astronomy-themed programming aboard the historic aircraft carrier.
The Free Friday series at the Intrepid Museum began this past Friday, April 26.
But you will still have the opportunity to take advantage of this offer on the following days:
- Friday 28 June
- Friday, July 26
- Friday 23 August
- and finally on Friday, September 27.
If you decide to visit the museum, don’t miss the new temporary exhibition “Apollo: When We Went To The Moon,” which highlights the history of extraterrestrial travel and the people who made it possible.
The exhibit, along with the Space Shuttle Enterprise, is housed in the museum’s Space Shuttle Pavilion, and you can learn about the historic Apollo missions, through a combination of education and immersive experiences.
