“Intouchables” Prototype Philippe Pozzo di Borgo Passes Away at 72

French businessman Philippe Pozzo di Borgo, who became the prototype of the protagonist in the film “1 + 1” (Intouchables), has died at the age of 72. This was reported by the Agence France-Presse, citing the director of the film, Eric Toledano.

Philippe Pozzo di Borgo became an invalid at the age of 42 after a paragliding accident. He remained paralyzed and later hired Abdel Sella from Algeria as an assistant. Their story formed the basis of the film “1 + 1”.

The premiere of “1 + 1” took place in 2011. The picture grossed over $426 million at the box office on a budget of $11 million and received high ratings from critics and viewers: 8.8 out of 10 on Kinopoisk and 8.5 out of 10 on IMDb.
