Spider-Man in the Spider-Verse changed the situation on several levels. The film marked the IP’s first animated feature crossing the multiverse – a concept it seamlessly executed before its live-action counterparts. It won an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature considering its brilliant character design, animation, and storytelling, and most importantly, it gave fans the experience of a comic book brought to life. and which has been unanimously acclaimed by fans and critics alike. Now fans of the franchise have a great opportunity to see the film in concert as Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Live in Concert debuts at the Kings Theater in New York in March.
The film’s official Twitter account posted a clip giving a taste of what awaits attendees. The minute-long clip sees the film’s visuals unfold over the live background score performed by a host of artists. The live orchestra consists of a band, electronic devices and turntables playing music from the score and soundtrack, which enhances the viewing experience for fans. The film’s original music was composed by the Golden Globe nominee Daniel Pemberton, who will be on hand for the world premiere concert in Brooklyn. Speaking previously about the performance, the composer said, “I never thought we would ever be able to reproduce it live. But somehow, we made it. I always dreamed that the first place it would sound would be Miles’ house, Brooklyn. He further shared his enthusiasm:
“I’m ridiculously excited to be able to perform the world’s first-ever Spider-Verse concert in the iconic neighborhood where the story begins, bringing a full orchestra with the band, synths AND a set of turntables on stage for the world premiere in March. . .”
Located in Brooklyn, New York, Into the Spider-Verse holds a special place in fans’ hearts as it brought Miles Morales and a slew of Spider-People to the big screen for the first time. Directed by the trio of Bob Persichetti, Pierre Ramseyet Rodney Rothmannwho also co-wrote the story with Phil Lordthe film proved to be a cultural phenomenon spanning sequels Spider-Man through the Spider-Verse et Spider-Man Beyond the Spider-Verse which are due this year and in 2024, respectively. Comic book fun, the display of multiple dimensions, some very interesting Spider-People, and an emotional core at the heart of the story are just a few reasons audiences can’t wait to see more of the spider worms.
