There are still really old devices in schools: 15-year-old computers, overhead projectors and 35 mm film projectors.

The city of Brake can receive around 262,000 euros as part of the digital school pact. In the primary schools, the digital equipment is to be brought up to date – also with mobile devices for the pupils. The administration explained the content of the tender and the placing of orders. In addition, she provided information about emergency aid programs (29,000 euros) and how to apply for funds left over (25,000 euros).

The WGB / FDP group asks who will pay for the follow-up costs, such as maintenance of the devices. Uwe Schubert said that it was the task of the municipalities to ensure the operation, support and maintenance of IT in schools, regardless of the School Digital Pact. That is also a big point of criticism of the city council. “The administration will also stay with us,” said the responsible department head. The procurement of replacements is also the responsibility of the municipalities. ??With the digital pact for schools, the federal and state governments want to ensure that schools are better equipped with digital technology. To achieve this goal, the federal and state governments have signed the administrative agreement for the digital pact, which started in May 2019. ??According to the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, schools everywhere must be able to access fast Internet and should have appropriate display devices such as interactive whiteboards. Teachers need to be well qualified to use digital media and teach digital skills.
