TELEVISION – Top à la vachette. This Wednesday, September 4, France Télévisions gave its big back-to-school conference. Many announcements were made, including the highly anticipated return ofIntervilles. The cult show from the 90s will indeed be making a comeback on the small screen next summer.
Fans of the entertainment program no longer dared to believe it after years of waiting. And yet, this Wednesday, September 4, the return ofIntervilles was confirmed in front of journalists and personalities of the group gathered in the premises of the 15th arrondissement. As specified by the program director Stéphane Sitbon-Gomez, the show will return for four evenings in the summer of 2025.
To host this duel of inhabitants, France Télévisions has relied on iconic faces from its channels: Nagui returns as conductor, surrounded by several other hosts, including Bruno Guillon. Over the years, Thierry Roland, Julien Courbet, Laurent Mariotte, Juliette Arnaud, Patrice Laffont, Jean-Pierre Foucault, Nathalie Simon, Julien Lepers, Nelson Monfort and Olivier Minne have taken part in the exercise. A new logo has also been unveiled.
Launched in 1962 by Guy Lux and Claude Savarit and broadcast intermittently, Intervilles is an iconic TV show. Originally a French program, it has been adapted around the world and even spawned an international version. The concept ofIntervilles should remain unchanged: the inhabitants of two cities compete in various physical events, often comical, such as sumo competitions and obstacle courses, or strength tests, but also quizzes. Each event is worth a certain number of points. There were also until now cows and “bull-pool” type events.
The last time thatIntervilles had been broadcast in France, it was in 2013. Since 2019 however, France Télévisions’ announcements have multiplied, but always postponed, first because of Covid and then for budgetary reasons.
Is this time the right one? The first notes of the cult theme song having been broadcast this Wednesday, September 4, we can assume that this one will also remain unchanged. And just as catchy.
