What motivated you to run for state parliament?

Harald Baumann-Hasske: I want to continue what I started in 2019: modernize the justice system, maintain hospitals, ensure structural change, alleviate the teacher shortage, enable everyone to become and be what they want to be if they make an effort.

What is your opinion on the ideas of the Conference of Interior Ministers to limit immigration?

Harald Baumann-Hasske: Immigration must be orderly and safe. The EU interior ministers have agreed on this. Immigration of skilled workers and those who want and can qualify is desirable. Upper limits are pointless if they cannot be adhered to. The causes of flight must be tackled.

What are your ideas for revitalizing inner cities, rural areas and a functioning public transport system in rural areas?

Harald Baumann-Hasske: Rents must be affordable. We need to green inner cities so that they don’t get too hot and so that retail and restaurants become more attractive. Rural areas are family-friendly with good transport links. People who work from home and occasionally have to go to the office like to live in green areas. In the future, autonomous vehicles will supplement connections where they fail due to personnel costs.

The state of Saxony is providing temporary assistance to cash-strapped municipalities for two years. But what happens after that?

Harald Baumann-Hasske: The number of municipalities under state supervision is increasing. The financial equalization system needs to be reformed. Municipalities must get what they need to fulfil their tasks.

Give us some wisdom for life!

Harald Baumann-Hasske: There is nothing good unless you do it. (Erich Kästner)
