What attracts you to being a columnist?

“What I look forward to writing the most are texts that will help consumers – rich and less rich – to better manage their finances in their everyday lives. Every dollar is far too hard to earn to be fooled or misused! The chronicle will allow me to tell stories, like unfortunate experiences of people who may have been reckless, but maybe not at all. I think that’s a good way to educate consumers about a host of more or less complex issues. My new position will also allow me to defend aggrieved consumers. “

How will your experience as a journalist serve you in your new role?

“I started writing about retail and consumption over 15 years ago. It is obviously a baggage that I bring with me in my new functions. What will change in my texts is that I will take the consumer’s point of view in my stories. Knowing how businesses operate, their challenges and the complexities of the industry is sure to help me find the right insight. This is the role of the columnist: to shed light on issues that otherwise risk remaining in the dark. “

Stéphanie Grammond spoke a lot about personal finances. Do you have a processing angle that you want to address more in your texts?

“Like Stéphanie, whom the readers of La Presse liked very much as a columnist, I am going to write about personal finance and consumption. These are subjects that concern everyone and are very popular. It is important to keep this winning recipe on our screens. But of course, I will have my own style and my favorite subjects. And it will be very important for me to develop a special bond with the readers so that they continually share their concerns and questions with me. Moreover, I already invite them to write to me at [email protected]. »
