Interview – Daniel Brodin: “I just like to play hockey”

What do you think of this match won against the LHC?

We started without taking risks, perhaps too wait-and-see. Then after the first third, we found confidence in our game and that allowed us in the end to turn the situation in our favor. There are matches like this where you don’t start well and then you have to make an effort to get back into the game.

And on your performance?

I tried to work hard, with little chance of a goal. But above all it was a big collective effort from the whole team.

You have just extended your contract for two more seasons, what is your feeling?

When I was offered this contract extension, I was very happy for myself and my family. We like it here and I enjoy playing for this club with all the passion that surrounds it. Also in this new ice rink where we often sell out.

We know you especially for your fighting spirit on the ice?

Maybe just because I like to play hockey and also to win. I feel that to be successful as a team, you have to be willing to give your best. Success does not come by itself, it takes energy to achieve it.

Do you sometimes mind if you see, for example, a teammate not producing as much effort as you?

Not really. Each player brings their own qualities to the team. For one, it will be the quality of his skating or for another his technique.

What main difference have you noticed so far in the game in Switzerland and what you have experienced before?

In Sweden or Finland, you are asked to put constant pressure on your opponent. Here. we tend to wait longer and bet on the opponent’s error.

What are your best memories so far in your career?

Probably my debut as a professional player with Djurgardens, with a participation in the final that season. And also with the Finnish club Ässät in the 2012-2013 season. At Christmas, we were only tenths and almost already eliminated. The club had already separated from two players. And then we just won the games one after the other, and ended up winning the championship title in Finland!

And a regret?

No, no regrets that come to my mind right now.
