The police are fully investigating the fatal fire on Askøy. They want contact with more witnesses.

– We are early in the investigation of a serious and demanding case, says police attorney Are Nygård Bergh to VG.
West police district receives assistance from Kripos in the investigation after the fire on Askøy on Friday, where two people lost their lives.
– The main hypothesis is that this is an arson and that the accused is the perpetrator. Nevertheless, we are working on several other hypotheses.
The police have so far questioned around 30 witnesses in the case, and have received several tips.
– We have, for example, tried to map how the fire developed, says Nygård Bergh.
They want to talk to more witnesses who have not yet been in contact with the police.
– We ask that those who have stayed in the area around the house where it burned between 08.00 and 09.00 on Friday 11 February or have driven past Florvåg during the same period and have a dashboard camera in the car get in touch, they write in the press release.
A man charged
A man in his 40s charged with “setting fire that can easily lead to loss of life”.
The autopsy of the dead was carried out on Sunday. The police expect to receive a preliminary report and secure identification of the two dead on Monday afternoon, possibly Tuesday morning, the police state in a press release.
The accused man denies criminal guilt. He has been remanded in custody for two weeks.
Police believe it is a woman in her 40s and a man in his 30s who are missing in connection with the fire. The two are said to have recently become boyfriends, while the accused man was the woman’s ex-boyfriend.
Shortly before the fire the couple have confirmed the relationship sit on Facebook.
Police attorney Nygård Bergh does not want to comment on the relations with the parties in the case.

Surveys
In the police press release, they write on Monday that they are now working on a review and analysis of obtained clues and interrogations.
– The work with forensic investigations at the scene continues, the police write.
According to VG’s information, the police are now reviewing everything from mobile traffic and camera surveillance that may be relevant in the hope that it can provide more answers. As far as VG knows, the police have a separate project in the investigation that collects and investigates this.
– Were weapons found at the scene?
– We do not want to comment from the scene for the sake of the investigation.
