Saarbrücken (dpa / lrs) – For the third birthday of the “Saarmojis”, the inventor of the Saarland mood pictures for SMS, WhatsApp messages and emails draws a positive balance. “We can justifiably claim that it was one of the most successful campaigns for Saarland in the last three years. This is proven by the daily user numbers,” says communication designer Zymryte Hoxhaj, co-founder of the creative agency Bureau Stabil.
According to her, the keyboard app has now been downloaded over 300,000 times, and the digital images have been sent millions of times by Saarlanders, Saarland lovers and loyal Saarlanders in exile. On some days, 2,000 motifs were sent.
There are now 500 Saarland images from twelve categories – including food and drink, idioms, sport and mood – which are available free of charge for all common messenger services. The most popular motifs are the Lyoner (Saarland meat sausage) and sayings like “Unn?”
Emojis have become an indispensable part of daily communication. And because Saarlanders are very attached to their homeland and proud of their special features, it was “high time”, according to Hoxhaj, to develop the Saarmojis. The start was supported by the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Economics.
Users have already received e-mails from Argentina, Canada, the USA and all of Europe. An exile from Saarland, who emigrated to Tibet to become a monk, wrote: “You made me so happy, and I had to laugh a lot, but also cry a little because I miss my homeland and, thanks to you, I have again had a very nice access got. “
