“APJII with the support of equipment from TP-Link Indonesia provides an internet network at five points of evacuation posts for victims of the eruption of Mount Merapi. Internet access is indispensable for government disaster posts, volunteers, and refugees. Especially students who are currently also doing the learning process online because of the pandemic, ”said the Head of APJII Yogyakarta Regional Board, Tigor Jonson Purba.
He explained that in installing the internet network, several barracks used TP-Link CPE610 and CPE110 as backhaul and access points with good results. Backbone internet is provided by APJII DIY with internet capacity of 80Mbps at Glagaharjo Village Hall. Then from there it is distributed to evacuation barracks in the surrounding villages.
With hilly natural conditions and trees, also almost always pouring rain on the slopes of Merapi outdoor CPE610 units can deliver bandwidth internet up to 15Mbps for one barracks. The CPE110 can also be easily accessed in the evacuation barracks consisting of shelter tents, and buildings with locked rooms occupied by each of the refugee families.
“Due to the vast area that could be affected, disaster officials and volunteers welcomed the availability of this internet network facility. They become easier to access and toupdate information on the current condition of the eruption of Mount Merapi, “said Tigor.
The people who were displaced were worried because the children who were still in school were undergoing a learning process online. Thankfully, the available internet network facilities allow the learning process to continue.
Meanwhile, Marketing Manager of TP-Link Indonesia, Yoshia, explained that this program is a form of TP-Link’s concern and commitment to provide the best network equipment so that the Indonesian people can always be connected. And support their daily activities in any situation.
“Moreover, conditions of natural disasters such as those experienced by the people of Sleman, we certainly want to be present to help as a form of social care through the provision of quality TP Link product network equipment,” said Yoshia.
