Internazionale took a big step towards the Champions League final on Wednesday. After a flashy start, the team of coach Simone Inzaghi settled 0-2 with city and stadium rivals AC Milan.
Goals from Edin Dzeko and Henrikh Mkhitaryan made it 0-2 in San Siro after eleven minutes. That margin could have been much larger. Hakan Çalhanoglu hit the post in the sixteenth minute and after intervention by the VAR, referee Jesús Gil Manzano reversed a penalty given to Inter before the break.
After the break, no more goals were scored, so that Inter can work towards the return next Tuesday in Stadio Giuseppe Meazza with a good feeling. Milan still hit the post halfway through the second half via Sandro Tonali. Denzel Dumfries played the entire match at Inter, while his compatriot Stefan de Vrij came on in the seventieth minute.
For Inter, it would be the first time since the 2009/2010 season that the Champions League final is reached. Then the club from Milan, including Wesley Sneijder in the team, managed to win the ball of millions.
On Tuesday, the other first semi-final in the Champions League between Real Madrid and Manchester City ended in 1-1. The return of that diptych is next Wednesday at the Etihad Stadium.

Inter settles with AC Milan within eleven minutes
The first goal in San Siro was scored after eight minutes and was very nice. From a corner the ball ended up at hip height at Dzeko. The Bosnian managed to get the inside of his foot against the ball and hit the crossbar.
Mkhitaryan’s 0-2 less than four minutes later was also good. The Armenian was allowed to continue and shot the ball straight through the middle. In the sixteenth minute, Çalhanoglu pelted the ball from about 20 meters against the post. Mkhitaryan and Nicolò Barella were almost accurate from the rebound.
In the 31st minute, Inter seemed to have another great opportunity to increase the margin when Manzano pointed to the spot. The Spanish referee ruled that striker Lautaro Martínez had been grounded, but after studying the images he thought the offense was too light.
After the break, AC Milan had the better of the game, but Inter remained upright relatively easily. In the 63rd minute, Tonali hit the outside of the post with a hard shot. In injury time, Milan only shot between the posts for the first time, although Tommaso Pobega’s effort was far too weak to shake Inter goalkeeper and former Ajax player André Onana.
