Ciego de Ávila, Cuba.- (PL) Medical specialists from Cuba and the United States will discuss ultrasound and breast surgery during the First International Workshop to be held next October in the central province of Ciego de Ávila.
The event coordinator, Antonio Rodriguez, said that experts from a US committee, led by the President of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, Michael P. Berry, will attend the event.
He said that the workshop will be held on the 8th and 9th of next month at the Roberto Rodríguez Hospital in the Avila municipality of Morón, with the presence of imaging specialists, general surgeons, oncologists, anatomical pathologists and gynecologists from all over the country.
He pointed out that lectures will be given on breast ultrasound and cryoablation, a novel surgical technique currently used in highly developed countries and through which small diameter breast tumors are detected, contributing to an early and accurate diagnosis of cancer.
During the day, Cuban doctors and American experts will conduct ultrasound training with patients suffering from the disease and breast biopsy training, which will contribute to the improvement of local specialists and benefit those affected by the disease.
