The main problems are students from African countries, such as 90 students from Ghana. Also from China, Georgia or Zambia. “Most of them are deep in their pockets. If they are not tested every week, they risk being expelled from the dormitory and fined. Many of the students are solving this absurd situation by getting vaccinated again in the Czech Republic, so some already have four doses of Pfizer, for example, ”Nerudová pointed out.

According to the vice-president of the Czech Vaccinological Society, Hana Cabrnochová, getting two more doses of the vaccine, whether from Pfizer / BioNTech or Moderna, is tested and risky in a short time.

“If it’s a person who doesn’t have a weakened immunity, it doesn’t improve his immunity. There is also the issue of reactogenicity (possible reactions and side effects) after such a number of doses. There are no data available for four doses. It is not a procedure that would be approved, “she said, adding that even a strengthening third dose is recommended mainly for risk groups.

Foreigners can get vaccinated relatively easily. If they do not provide all the necessary documents and the state does not have a way to verify their vaccination, it will simply conceal it. Paramedics do not have mechanisms to obtain information from abroad.
–
“We are following the instructions. We need to bring those people information to the ISIN (Infectious Disease Information System) on the spot. We can do this only if we inoculate them, or we have all the necessary official documents and confirmation of vaccination from the given country, “Veronika Plachá, spokeswoman for the Brno University Hospital, told Práva. A vaccine approved by the European Medicines Agency is also a condition.

A similar problem was solved at the beginning of the summer by foreigners vaccinated in the USA. The Czechia already recognizes these certificates and can verify their validity. As well as from EU countries and other friendly states. In addition, the Ministry of Health has established cooperation with 27 other non-European countries regarding preparations approved in the EU. These are, for example, Brazil, Serbia, Armenia or Britain. The agreement is also with Ukraine, Turkey and Northern Macedonia. But African states are missing from the list.

According to Rector Nerudová, the problem is systemic. If the mentioned students lived in a private home, they would not have to deal with it at all, according to her. However, as this is a scholarship program where the issuance of a visa is linked to dormitory accommodation, this problem arises.
On the other hand, neither Palacký University in Olomouc nor Masaryk University in Brno similar problems are registered. However, they have the majority of students from countries whose certificate the Czechia recognizes.
