French international Romain NAVARRETE, who has nearly a hundred Super League matches to his credit, including one final won, joins Toulouse Olympique XIII with immediate effect until the end of the 2023 season.
The pillar who has just celebrated his 27 years first made his classes in the French Elite championship (Pia, Limoux and St Estève / XIII Catalan) before signing for the Catalans Dragons in 2015, with whom he discovered the Super League. Nevertheless, it is under the jersey of Wigan a little later, that he takes all the dimension that we know him at this level.
After a first adjustment exercise in 2017, which nevertheless allowed him to go to Australia to participate in the World Cup with the Blues, he had a thunderous year 2018, during which he contributed to the conquest of the title, notably by being holder in the final at Old Trafford, and won the European Championship with the France team (holder over the 3 matches).
After a 2019 season of the same bill with the Warriors (second in the regular season, eliminated in the semi-finals), Romain is loaned to Wakefield in 2020 before joining London at the start of the year.
Lacking depth of staff at the post of pillar after the departures of Patty VAIVAI and Ben EVANS a few months ago, and to anticipate the retirement of Rémi CASTY at the end of the season, the TO leaders jumped at the opportunity after the announcement of Romain’s release from London.
Romain NAVARRETE : “I’m very happy to be part of TO XIII, I can’t wait to start working with the team so that I can help the club move up to the Super League. I would be very happy and proud to contribute to the rise of a second French club in this division. ”
Bernard SARRAZAIN, president of TO XIII: “We are very happy to have had the opportunity to sign Romain. Thanks to his experience and his aggressiveness, his reinforcement will be invaluable to us in the months and years to come, especially since he should continue to progress with us. ”
