The donation that Ecuadorian midfielder Antonio Valencia made of his salary in the Quito League was highlighted by the international press. Yesterday, the administrative department of Liga revealed that the tricolor made the decision during a meeting in which it was announced to the squad of players that they were going to retain a percentage of the salary.
The capital’s team, second in the Pro League with 9 points, like other teams, had to make adjustments in their finances to meet the payment of wages to all their collaborators for the lack of income accuses of the paralysis of activities due to the pandemic of the coronavirus.
“When we told the players that we are going to withhold a percentage of their salary, Antonio said to me: Esteban (Paz), don’t worry about me, I have my life arranged. Take my monthly payment and pay the administration people, who live on their salary, “Esteban Paz told reporters.
Paz did not reveal the figure and neither did the player, who was captain of Manchester United, although sources from the club assure journalists that the monthly payment for Valencia is close to $ 100,000. (D)
