1. US Tracks 200 People Suspected To Be Infected With Rare Monkey Smallpox

More than 200 people in 27 US states have been tracked for possible infection with the rare monkeypox disease. The disease infected a Texan man who had just returned from Nigeria earlier this month.

The man was taken to hospital in stable condition. It is believed to be the first case of monkeypox in the US since 2003.

2. 18 Killed Due to Heavy Rain That Hit India

At least 18 people have died in the western Indian state of Maharashtra. The disaster came after heavy rains caused landslides and floods that submerged low-lying areas and cut off access to hundreds of villages.

Rivers in Maharashtra were flooded after authorities released water from a dam that was filled up after many parts of the west coast received more than 200mm of rain in 24 hours and some parts received 594mm of rainfall.

3. Residents Injected with Empty Covid-19 Vaccine, Malaysian Government Apologizes

Malaysia has confirmed one case of a citizen being injected with an empty dose of the Covid-19 vaccine in the national vaccination programme. The incident is categorized as human error.

Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Khairy Jamaluddin said there were two cases where individuals were given extra doses of the coronavirus vaccine because it was not clear whether they had been given empty syringes or not.
