International Outrage Over Israeli Massacre in Jabalia Refugee Camp: Possible War Crimes and Loss of Thousands of Palestinian Children

International bodies and figures considered that the massacre committed by the Israeli occupation in Jabalia in the Gaza Strip may amount to a war crime, and recalled the loss of about 4,000 Palestinian children out of 8,805 martyrs who died during the ongoing aggression against the Strip since the seventh of last October.

The United Nations Human Rights Office said on Wednesday that it is concerned that the Israeli air strikes on the Jabalia refugee camp in Gaza may amount to war crimes.

“Given the large number of civilian casualties and scale of destruction following Israeli airstrikes on Jabalia refugee camp, we have serious concerns that these are disproportionate attacks that could amount to war crimes,” the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights wrote on the X platform.

Israel’s brutality

For his part, Martin Griffiths, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, said that Israel’s targeting of Jabalia camp last Tuesday is the latest brutality to which the residents of Gaza are subjected.

He added, “The world seems unable and even reluctant to act,” stressing that “this matter cannot continue. We need important change.”

This came in a statement issued by Griffiths – the emergency relief coordinator – following his two-day visit to Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories.

The day before yesterday, Tuesday, the Palestinian Ministry of Interior in Gaza announced that an Israeli bombing caused 400 casualties, including martyrs and wounded, and destroyed an entire residential neighborhood in the Jabalia camp.

For his part, Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, said that the latter “is shocked by the escalation of violence in Gaza, including the killing of Palestinians, including women and children, in the Israeli bombing of populated areas in the overcrowded Jabalia refugee camp.”

Children killing

In turn, the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child stressed that “there are no winners in a war in which thousands of children are killed,” while condemning “grave human rights violations” in the Gaza Strip.

The committee, which monitors countries’ compliance, expressed this to the Convention on the Rights of the Child– About her “anger at the severe suffering of children” in the Israeli aggression on Gaza.

The committee said in a statement, “The grave human rights violations to which children are exposed are worsening moment after moment in the Gaza Strip, and there are no victors in a war in which thousands of children are killed.”

The UN Committee stressed that it “strongly condemns the escalation in attacks by Israel against civilian targets in the Gaza Strip, which led to the death of more than 3,500 children.”

“We remain deeply concerned about the children who are still being held hostage,” she added.
