FC Bayern rise: four Bundesliga clubs in the top 20

The main reasons for the drop in sales were cited as the decline in media revenues (minus 23 percent) and the widespread loss of matchday income since March 2020 (minus 17 percent) due to ghost games. For the first time in seven years, four Bundesliga clubs are among the top 20. FC Bayern improved from fourth to third place behind FC Barcelona and Spanish champions Real Madrid. Borussia Dortmund stayed in twelfth place, Schalke 04 slipped from 15th to 16th. For the first time, Eintracht Frankfurt is in 20th place.

But the Bundesliga clubs also had to accept losses. For example, FC Bayern had a turnover of 660.1 million euros in 2018/2019; in the past season, the value fell by four percent to 634.1 million euros.
