Orlando (SID) – Portuguese soccer star Nani has led Orlando City into the final of the restart tournament of the North American professional league MLS. The former Manchester United striker scored a double in a 3-1 (2-0) win over Minnesota United. In the final in Orlando / Florida the “host” meets Philadelphia Union with the German Kai Wagner.
The team of the former Würzburger Wagner had prevailed 2-1 against the Portland Timbers. The final will take place next Tuesday (local time). The tournament winner receives a starting place in the CONCACAF Champions League.
At the tournament in Disney World, the MLS celebrates its return to gaming after the corona break. Originally, all 26 teams in the league were supposed to participate, but after several positive corona tests Nashville SC and FC Dallas were excluded. The regular season of the MLS, which was interrupted after two game days in mid-March, is to be continued from the end of August, with the results from the group phase in Florida being adopted.
