International luxury car manufacturers are betting on China for the green development of the sector –

/ world today news/ Luxury car manufacturers from all over the world have already set their sights on the world’s largest car market with new energy sources. In the past few years, this sector in China has been booming and attracting the attention of more and more international players. Many leading companies took part in this year’s 3rd International Consumer Product Expo in Haikou, Hainan Province, and presented their new models and concepts.

Volkswagen Group presented its luxury brands Porsche, Bentley and Lamborghini in Hainan. Porsche showed its all-electric model Taycan 4S, and Bentley presented a new development for a plug-in hybrid. Meanwhile, the British Lotus showed a fully electric SUV.

Sales of new energy vehicles in China nearly doubled to 6.89 million units last year, accounting for more than a quarter of total vehicle sales in the world’s largest auto market. Young customers especially like all-electric models, commented the Chief Financial Officer of Porsche China. By 2025, more than 50 percent of Porsche’s new car sales worldwide are expected to be fully electric or plug-in hybrids, and this figure will reach more than 80 percent by 2030. More and more customers of Bentleys also choose to buy hybrid cars because of the green and low-carbon trend, although most are not particularly concerned about fuel costs.

Oliver Blume, chairman of the board of directors of the Volkswagen Group, said that the German carmaker is continuing its electrification strategy and is already reporting good results. He also added that the company hopes to use its experience to produce more high-quality vehicles with new energy sources and achieve good sales in the Chinese market.

Mirko Bordiga, managing director of Maserati China, said Maserati has confidence in China’s green car market and will soon launch new fully electric models at the upcoming Shanghai International Auto Show. “By 2025, all Maserati models will have electric versions, and by 2030, the entire Maserati range will be electric-only,” added Bordiga.
