« In May, do what you want »… But above all, go to International Festival of French Authors ! Established in 2021, the meeting place for literary lovers returns to New York for several days of public events between the Big Apple and Westchester. Good news: they are all free and there will be an aperitif!
The event is organized by Meeting of French authors, a network of French and French authors present around the world. Around thirty members from three continents will take part in the performances.
The kick-off will be given on Wednesday 15 May at the building of the Organization Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF). It will be followed the next day by a “cultural score” open to all between 6pm and 8pm at the Maison de l’Occitanie (244-250 W 54th St). The subject: the work of the fighters Romain Gary and Albert Camus. During this wine-filled discussion, the network will present a collection written by several of its members in tribute to Gary, the resistance fighter and former French consul in Los Angeles, on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of his birth . The event will be moderated by Mona Azzam, professor of literature and Camus expert. Mandatory reservation.
The next two days are dedicated to signings with members of the network. On Friday, May 17th, meet at the Shore Acres Point Club residential complex in Mamaroneck (504 Parkway) from 4 pm to 8:30 pm for a meeting with about thirty authors on the shores of Long Island Sound. Biographies, autobiographies, novels, works of passion… There will be something for everyone. Information here.
On Saturday the 18th, return to Manhattan, with a another signing session. This takes place at the OCabanon restaurant (245 W 29th St) between 2pm and 8pm.
