Due to the extraordinary situation, the international documentary film festival “Artdocfest / Riga” has been postponed to April next year, informs the curator of the “Baltic Focus” program and symposium Kristīne Briede.
The organizers of the festival reminded that the symposium of the festival and industry event – documentary symposium – was planned from November 26 to December 1. In a statement, the organizers point out that in an emergency, the decision has been made to abandon the online version of the festival, convinced that “only the live connection between viewers and filmmakers, the magic of premieres on the big screen and in-depth industry discussions a real film festival “.
By moving the live version of the festival to next year, the organizers promise to keep the planned film and industry event schedule, jury, as well as the opening concert in honor of Juris Podnieks’ 70th anniversary at Riga Dome Church with the participation of maestro Gidon Kremer and Kremerata Baltica.
“In order to delight cinema-goers and continue the interesting connection with high-class cinematographic works even in emergency situations, we have prepared an alternative online version of the festival, which will take place during the festival from November 26 to December 1,” the statement said.
Briede noted that during this time, one film that has recently achieved international success and recognition will be offered to the Latvian audience free of charge. The film will be translated – there will be subtitles in Latvian or English. The program of the online festival will be announced in the coming days on the website “artdocfest.com”.
