International design competition for Asian water history theme experience center and natural water play experience facility – MasilWIDE

The Yeongsan River, which flows through downtown Gwangju, has infinite potential and future value as an ecological, historical, and tourism resource, but its value has been underutilized. By planning a water history experience center and water park with a story, we hope to set a consistent theme throughout and create a space where people can immerse themselves in it. Gwangju City plans to simultaneously promote two unit projects, the Asian Water History Theme Experience Center and the natural water play experience facility, to create a synergy effect as a complex space called the “Yeongsan River Exciting Zone.”

1. Competition overview

② Outdoor facility area: Area around 760-3 Dongnim-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju (river area)

– Construction area: 79,000 ㎡

– Local district: ① Architectural area: Natural green area, specialized landscape district, neighborhood park, etc.
② Outdoor facility areas: natural green areas, urban landscape areas, national rivers, etc.

– Estimated construction cost: KRW 29,805,200 (VAT included)

– Estimated design cost: KRW 1,713,608,000 (including VAT, various certified designs, etc.)

– Planned design period: 270 days from the start date (including holidays and public holidays)
