International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists celebrated this Thursday – AGP

Libreville, o2 November 2023 (AGP) – On the occasion of the celebration of the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Committed against Journalists, UNESCO, in partnership with the General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (OAS), the Commission inter-American of Human Rights (CIDH) and its Office of the Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Expression (RELE), is organizing a event for the occasion on November 2 and 3, 2023, at the headquarters of the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington DC

For this 2023 edition, the event of UNESCO and its partners aims to strengthen collaborative links between the different actors involved in the defense of freedom of expression and to coordinate common action against threats. faced by journalists.

This will be an opportunity to attend numerous panels and discussions bringing together interlocutors from all backgrounds, including former special rapporteurs, university researchers, civil society organizations, States, United Nations agencies and other actors committed to the safety of journalists around the world.

The day will also commemorate the 25th anniversary of the creation of the position of OAS Special Rapporteur, and the 30th anniversary of the United Nations Special Procedure, two specialized offices that play an essential role in promoting and safeguarding freedom of expression on a global scale.
