A number of international airlines intend to cancel a number of flights to destinations United States of America (USA) starting Wednesday (19/1) local time, amid uncertainty about disruptions between services 5G technology for phones with essential aircraft technology.
As reported CNNOn Wednesday (19/1/2022), Emirates, Air India, All Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines announced service cuts, citing problems with 5G technology at these US airports.
Emirates said it was suspending flights to nine US airports, including Boston, Chicago O’Hare, Dallas Fort Worth, George Bush Intercontinental in Houston, Miami, Newark, Orlando, San Francisco and Seattle.
Only flights to John F Kennedy airport (JFK) in New York, Los Angeles airport and Dulles airport in Washington DC are still continuing.
“We are working closely with aircraft manufacturers and relevant authorities to reduce operational concerns, and we look forward to resuming service to the US as soon as possible,” the airline said in a statement.
Air India announced it would suspend flights between Delhi Airport and San Francisco, Chicago and JFK, as well as the Mumbai-Newark route. Meanwhile flights to Dulles airport in Washington DC are still continuing.
While ANA and Japan Airlines canceled a number of flights to the US that were scheduled to use Boeing 777 aircraft, they will operate some flights with Boeing 787 aircraft.
