Airlines around the world will carry 4.7 billion passengers next year, an all-time high, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) predicted on Wednesday.
“About 4.7 billion people are expected to travel by air in 2024, surpassing the previous record high of 4.5 billion passengers, which was recorded before the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic in 2019,” says IATA.
The association explains that almost half of people’s travel habits have returned to pre-pandemic levels. A third of the people surveyed say that they now travel more often, but only 18% say they still travel less often.
At the same time, IATA significantly increased the airline profit forecast for this year to 23.3 billion dollars, compared to 9.8% billion dollars, as predicted in June.
