Santos was humiliated this Sunday, in Beira-Rio. In a direct confrontation against the defeat in the Brasileirão, the São Paulo team suffered the biggest defeat of the competition, in the face of the worst attack at the time, leading 7-1 in Porto Alegre. In addition to suffering the biggest defeat in the history of the match, Marcelo Fernandes’ team will spend at least one more round within the relegation zone.
The first half ended 4-0 with goals from Kevyson (own goal), Alan Patrick, Enner Valencia and Wanderson, while Bustos, Valencia once again and Luiz Adriano completed the Gaucho score in the final stage. Maxi Silvera scored the visitors’ goal of honor at the end.
Before this game, Internacional had the worst attack with 23 goals. With the result he reached 35 points and appears in 12th place. Santos, within the drop zone, is 18th with just 30.
At home, Internacional played an impeccable first half and practically declared victory before the break. The scoreboard opened after 50 seconds. Wanderson received the ball in the area, left a rival behind and crossed low. At the second post, left-back Kevyson tried to clear it, but ended up scoring against it.
The second one didn’t take long to leave. At 13, Alan Patrick took advantage of a wrong move by Santos’ defense, stole the ball, cleared a defender and saw goalkeeper Vladimir ahead of him, sending the cover to score a beautiful goal.
Despite the good advantage, the Colorado momentum remained strong. At 19, Enner Valencia had a goal disallowed, but he was not intimidated and left his mark at 26. The Ecuadorian received the ball at the edge of the area and sent it into the corner, with no chance for the opposing goalkeeper. The fourth came at 38. Aránguiz played to Wanderson, who invaded the area alone and only touched the goal.
Back in the second half, Santos maintained the scheme with three defenders, which hadn’t been working, but changed three pieces to try to react. However, he continued to be dominated. The fifth goal came after eight minutes. After a beautiful Gaucho plot, Maurício rolled back and Bustos hit Vladimir’s corner, who could do nothing. The sixth came at 15, once again with Valencia. The number 13 risked a strong shot and scored a beautiful goal.
Without any reaction, Santos still saw Inter score the seventh and final goal in the 29th minute. Pedro Henrique stole the ball in the middle, advanced and rolled it to Luiz Adriano, who in his first move on the field, dominated and hit the ball into the net.
In the end, at 34, the São Paulo team managed to cash in. After a corner taken in the area, Ríncon took the first shot and the ball grazed the post. But it was up to Maxi Silvera to complete the match, ending the duel in an embarrassing 7-1.
Now, the two teams return to the field next Thursday to compete in the 29th round. At 7pm, Internacional visits Vasco, at the São Januário stadium, in Rio de Janeiro. Later, at 9:30 pm, Santos hosts Coritiba, at Vila Belmiro.
