Interministerial meeting aimed at “putting out the fire” of social indignation – Mitsotakis under pressure – 2024-08-16 04:30:05

The inter-ministerial meeting led by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has been concluded at a time when social anger is growing, regarding the devastating fire that burned for 40 hours in North-Eastern Attica, resulting in the loss of one woman’s life, over 100 thousand crowns and the burning of property. to be destroyed.

At the meeting, there was a discussion about the measures taken by the state towards the victims of the fire, with the aim of the government managing the citizens’ indignation at the non-existence of the state, because the argument of “insurmountable problems” mentioned by Vassilis Kikilias, does not convince anyone.

It is clear that Kyriakos Mitsotakis is under pressure, as while 1.5 months ago (1/7) he declared that the state “is present” in dealing with the fires, within a few hours his narrative collapsed with the most emphatic way, as the flames invaded the urban fabric. In this context, the clouds between Maximos and Vassilis Kikilia have begun to thicken, as the prime minister is looking for an “expiation victim” for the unprecedented disaster.
