Interjet receives capitalization to strengthen finances; dismiss layoffs

After a ‘turbulent’ season of debt, aircraft withdrawal and operational problems, Interjet announced this Sunday that it received a capitalization to improve its finances in the face of the health crisis that brought down the demand for flights in the country.

In a statement, the German family-owned company said that thanks to the capital injection – of which it did not detail the amount – it will strengthen its operational plan by continuing to operate national and international air routes.

“The company is undergoing a deep financial and commercial restructuring … thanks to the recent capitalization it received, the company is reinforcing its operating plan,” the company said in the document.

In addition, Interjet assured that its workforce of around six thousand workers will not have cuts.

“It is pleasant to report that there will be no adjustment of personnel in the company, since the measures that were taken previously allowed maintaining the jobs of the 6,000 workers that make up the workforce,” the company said.

Likewise, the airline indicated that the Airbus equipment that was withdrawn by lessors will return to its operational fleet.
