Interior Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr. has accused high-ranking Philippine National Police (PNP) officials of involvement in the transport of 990 kg of crystal methamphetamine worth P6.7 billion, the country’s biggest drug haul to date. A PNP officer, MSg. Rodolfo Mayo, was dismissed from service due to his involvement in the crime, but Abalos believes he did not act alone. He said he sent a letter to the PNP chief inquiring about the case in February and issued a directive for a probe into Mayo’s case in March. Abalos did not name the police officials allegedly involved in the case, but warned that heads will roll.
