Interfaith Group Urges Constitutional Court to Maintain Integrity in Election Dispute Case – Jakarta News 2024

The Interfaith Group made a statement regarding the decision of the Election Results Dispute Case (PHPU) or presidential election controversy 2024 which will be read out by the Constitutional Court (MK) tomorrow. They asked the judges of the Constitutional Court to maintain integrity and be independent in making decisions.

This position statement was read by the Chairman of PP Muhamadiyah Dzulfikar Ahmad Tawalia in a debate held by Total Politik titled ‘Final Seconds of the Constitutional Court Judgment on Prabowo-Gibran: How Interfaith Groups Are Responding to the Dynamics of Indonesian Politics and Democracy?’ in Menteng district, Central Jakarta, Sunday (21/4/2024). Also present at the venue were Peradah General President I Gede Ariawan, GAMKI Chairman Sahat Sinurat, Catholic Youth Chairman Stefanus Aset Gusma, Mthla’ul Chairman Anwar Ahmad Nawawi, Gema Budhi Chairman Bambang Patjaya, and GPII Chairman Masri Ikoni.

In their statement, they asked all parties to accept and accept the decision of the Constitutional Court tomorrow. They also asked the political elite to act as statesmen and give cool statements.

“The 2024 election campaign should end in a safe, orderly and peaceful manner by continuing to take into account the wishes of the majority of the Indonesian people as we understand in the democratic process, the principle of majority voting is a key factor in holding the election. validity and legitimacy of the election results,” Dzulfikar said at the venue, Sunday (4/21/2024).

The following are several statements of opinion expressed by OKP Lintas Iman:

1. We thank the people of Indonesia, the organizers of the election, namely KPU Bawaslu, and DKPP, officers of TNI Polri and all related parties who made the 2024 elections successful, run smoothly , safely, cheerfully and democratically.

2. We fully encourage constitutional judges to make decisions according to the legal facts in the field.

3. We encourage judges to continue to maintain integrity and independence in deciding cases. Judges are the guardians of the rule of law in this country.

4. We invite all parties to exercise self-restraint, continue to maintain social harmony and return to harmony in building a developed Indonesia.

5. We encourage political elites to control them, be statesmen, and provide cool stories.

GAMKI president Sahat Sinurat said that MK judges will take into account the dynamics of political dispute so far in deciding the results of tomorrow’s election dispute trial. The result is guaranteed to be a binding and final decision.

“So before tomorrow’s decision it is still a standard case, because it is an idea that needs to be developed to be considered by the judges of the Constitutional Court. We are confident when these 8 (MK judges) have “decided that the result is final and binding,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ketum Mathla’ul Anwar Ahmad Nawawi said the heated political dynamics of 2024 was typical of competition. However, he asked all parties to accept the decision of the Constitutional Court for the sake of Indonesia’s future.

“We still have to respect the choice of the majority of votes chosen by the people. One more thing that is not so important, whatever the decision of the Constitutional Court, we have to accept it, a be prepared because I think there are more important things in the future, how to make sure that Indonesia can be peaceful, orderly and develop without any disturbance,” he said.
