Interesting transmission of Singapore flu and plague in schools, DKI Health Office reveals the situation

Several schools in DKI Jakarta recently issued an appeal to prevent mumps and the ‘Singapore Flu’ or Hand Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD). Transmission cases are said to be on the rise.

Acting Head of Disease Prevention and Control (P2P) Department of DKI Jakarta Health Service, Dr. Maryati Kasiman, MKKK, explained that the trend of HFMD cases in DKI Jakarta, both based on data from hospitals and community health centers, is right now. experiencing a decline after passing the peak of cases in May 2024.

Dr Maryati said there were 890 suspected cases of HFMD or ‘Singapore Flu’ on Sunday 32 reported by community health centres, and from hospitals there were 502 cases.

“From the results of the laboratory analysis on the samples suspected of HFMD that were submitted, they were all negative,” he said when detikcom contacted him, Friday (23/8/2024).

The following is the distribution of suspected cases by region:

  • Central Jakarta: 83 cases
  • North Jakarta: 112 cases
  • West Jakarta: 131 cases
  • South Jakarta: 468 cases
  • East Jakarta: 519 cases

“Based on sub-district, the largest number of cases from the Puskesmas base was reported by Kramatjati: 236 cases and the largest number of hospital-based cases was reported from Duren Sawit Sub-district with 57 cases,” he said.

Dr. Maryati also highlighted one of the prevention efforts made by several schools in DKI Jakarta. According to him, this application is a good effort to prevent the spread of disease.
